More Deconstruction
I have repurposed a loved one's jacket into jewelry to recognize the beauty of repairs and wears. Jackets comfort us; they provide warmth. When we lose someone, we love, sometimes their clothing can feel like an empty vessel. My work attempts to repurpose a lifeless object into a celebration of life lived. A resewn button, for example, can become a focal point and celebration of functionality. The tattered, torn and worn object has visual elements of beauty in its imperfection.
